Cindy Sheehan became a household name when she started a vigil on the road outside President George W. Bush’s ranch in Texas demanding to know “the noble cause” her son died for. Casey Sheehan, Cindy’s son, who served in Iraq with the U.S. Army lost his life in 2004. Cindy – known by many as the “Peace Mom” – is one of the strongest, most personal and persistent voices in the US and international movement against invasions, wars and occupations. She has testified before Congress protesting the Iraqi war; she has written books and letters; she has given speeches worldwide and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace prize; she founded the “Gold Star Families for Peace”, “Peace of the Action” and is a radio show host and blogger at Cindy Sheehan’s Soapbox (www.CindySheehansSoapbox.com).
